Sandie Youngson
- Sandie is a
self-taught artist, with 30 years and more experience. She paints in various
mediums, her favourite being oil because of its versatility.
Her background is medical, but her true passion, apart
from her husband and family, has always been art.
As a young wife and mother, she found herself in many
different locations; her painting provided some sanity during the upheaval
of various moves.
A
large part of her childhood was spent on the west coast island of Bute,
where her family originated. Her trade mark, if you like, is her large
dramatic, minimal beaches, indeed painting a scene without water is often a
real challenge. Much of her childhood was spent at the various beaches on
the island or cruising up and down the Clyde on the paddle steamers of the
day.
Sandie's work is exhibited in various galleries on
Royal Deeside and in private collections in Hong Kong, New York, Canada and
New Zealand.
In
Bieldside on the outskirts of Aberdeen, where she now lives, she has a large
studio at her home. She travels extensively, mainly because her three
children now live in three different continents, but she is at her happiest
pottering around in her studio, losing track of time.
