James Fraser was born in Glasgow and he graduated from Edinburgh College of Art where he was awarded the Heriot Watt University award for outstanding merit in his first year.
He says his work usually begin with chaos attacking the surface with various materials including collage, paint, pencil, pastel etc he then is then reorganised adding and subtracting relying on intuition and creating a harmony, balance and beauty. His work is a portrayal of objects figures and nature. Sometimes recognisable, sometimes suggestive, even adding a bit of humour all hopefully arranged in s beautiful manner.
Since qualifying from college he has exhibited in various galleries and his work has been in annual exhibitions of the Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) Society of Scottish Artists (SSA), The royal Society of Watercolourists(RSW) and the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) amongst others.
